KIMONO Skajan
Produced by kimono 567
Product Description
Outerwear Made from Traditional Kimonos.
Kimonos are crafted from exquisite textiles featuring hand-painted designs, embroidery, and gold leaf—showcasing Japan's traditional craftsmanship. However, due to complex wearing rules, they are no longer worn by many.
Yet kimonos are sustainable, often passed down for generations. kimono 567 has upcycled used kimono textiles—carefully chosen for their patterns and colors—into outerwear using 100% silk and premium fabrics.
All of the sukajan jackets are reversible.
About the Brand "kimono 678"
Before a kimono can be worn, it goes through the following steps:
- Raising silkworms
- Producing silk thread
- Weaving and dyeing the fabric
- Tailoring it into a kimono
- Wearing the kimono
After that, a KIMONO sukajan (kimono-style souvenir jacket) is created through these additional steps:
- Carefully unpicking and cleaning the kimono
- Redesigning it
- Upcycling it into new clothing for the next generation
kimono 678 is the brand that handles steps 6, 7, and 8—breathing new life into traditional kimonos.
